About the George Gorman Memorial Fund
The Fund provides grants of up to £1000 (and larger amounts in some cases) to support the advancement of religion and religious education according to the principles and beliefs of the Religious Society of Friends.

Applying to the Fund
Here is how to apply for a grant:
Step 1: Make an initial enquiry through our contact form. We will then be in touch with an email address to submit your application to.
Step 2: Put together your application, with the following information:
Step 3: Please submit your completed application well before your project is scheduled to start. In usual practice it may take Trustees up to 3 months to process an application through their regular meetings. If your application is time-sensitive, please make this clear in your application. If you case is urgent, please explain this clearly and it may be possible for Trustees to make a decision more quickly.
All successful applicants will be asked to write a report about how they have used their grant, and what they have learned and gained from the experience.

More about the Fund
The Fund was set up in 1982 in the UK by Friends wanting to continue the service of George Gorman in supporting further generations of Quakers. The initial fund consisted of £10,000 of donations given in memory of George. As our Trustee body grows, we hope to review the ethics of our investments, to ensure that these are in alignment with the principles and beliefs of the Religious Society of Friends.

To be eligible for a grant you must be:
- Aged 18-35
- Be an active attender or member of a Quaker community
- Be resident in a country within the Europe and Middle East Section (EMES) of Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC). You can find out more about EMES here: https://fwccemes.org/about/
- International travel, including visiting other Quaker communities around the world
- Attendance at conferences such as the Quaker United Nations Summer School
- Educational course fees
- Creative arts projects
- Time-limited voluntary work
Applying to the Fund

- Your contact details
- your age and the Quaker community you are an active attender or member of
- details about the activity you require funding for
- the amount of funding you would need
- details of any additional source of funding you will be drawing on
- how this activity supports the advancement of religion and religious education according to the principles and beliefs of the Religious Society of Friends
- Details of a referee, such as a clerk, elder or someone in a position of responsibility within your Quaker community. (Please ask the referee’s permission before sending us their name and contact details.)
